Pubs in the Peak District are a warm, friendly enjoyable place to be With beautiful, peaceful, scenic surroundings The Peak pub is at the heart of the community. Pubs perform a vital role at the heart of the Peak District. They provide a welcoming place to drink, eat & talk whether the community they are in is a little village or a busy town. The Miners Arms Built in 1630 just before the great plague found its way to Eyam. Not always called the Miners Arms as until 1764 it was called the Kings Head. The present name derives from the many meetings the mine owners used to have here, mining lead and fluorspar, and calling themselves the Barmote Court, deciding things such as land rights etc. We offer a creative Restaurant dinner menu as well as simpler food during lunchtimes and evenings all prepared by our chefs Rachel Nuttall and Ragab Elnagar. The vast majority of our food is prepared from fresh local ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Knockerdown Inn The Knockerdown Inn dates from the 17th Century and is set in its own picturesque grounds with panoramic views over Carsington Water. This public house & restaurant has been under the same ownership since 1996, and has won many awards during this time. This friendly pub has everything the local and visitor could wish for, and is open all day through the summer and for lunch and evenings for the rest of the year. It is open all day every weekend all year. The superb restaurant holds a Smoke Free Zone Award, and the extensive menu caters for most tastes including vegetarians and is complemented by a comprehensive selection on the specials board. There is a separate Hillbilly Young Diner's Menu for the younger visitor. The Bulls Head Run by the same family for over 25 years. The Bulls Head Hotel is situated on the main street in Youlgrave it offers Bed & Breakfast accommodation and has two comfortable bar areas and two non-smoking dining rooms. The Horseshoe Inn The Family Friendly, Family Run Good food Pub on Matlock Green. We've an excellent local reputation for food and drink, and we are currently recommended in the Senior Citizens Good Food Guide to Derbyshire 2006-7 for offering outstanding quality and value. And awarded our Cask Marque Award for the second year running. The Rising Sun An 18th Century Country Inn in the heart of the Peak District, privately owned and family run, carefully restored and nurtured by Carole and Graham Walker, who endeavour to serve the very best of traditional British Food with modern European and Oriental influences. Our Luncheon and Evening Menus are created daily using fresh produce and are complimented by a good selection of real ales and fine wines. The Plough Inn You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome, whether in winter by the roaring log fires or summer in the garden surrounded by an abundance of flowering baskets and beds. Relax and take a meal in our cosy bar or tastefully decorated and intimate restaurant. Our extensive menu ranges from good old home-made pies to fine international cuisine using only the finest quality produce. The Devonshire Arms Owned by David Mullarkey for the last 13 years, this is a beautifully historic 17th century coaching inn with inherent charm. It has a traditional bar area and a cosy lounge both with real fires and serving real beers including, Abbot Ale and Jennings Cumberland together with a range of guest beers. Bench seating at the front and in the garden to the rear. The smart and modern dining room seats approximately 50 and is available for functions, private parties and conferences and ordinary dining in the evenings. The lunchtime menu holds a tempting range of home cooked standards such as Steak and Ale pie, cottage pie, lasagne and a range of fish and vegetarian options. There is also a snack menu available. In the evenings the menu is more a la carte including the chefs own selection such as Hartington chicken, Lamb shank, all sauces are created by the chef Richard Foulkes. A selection of sticky puddings are available both lunchtime and evening as is the interesting cheeseboard featuring the local Hartington Stilton. |
